University of Peradeniya Alumni Association - USA (UPAA-USA)

The recent typhoon that swept across Sri Lanka has caused severe and unprecedented damage to the University of Peradeniya. Rising waters from the Mahaweli River have flooded parts of the campus, damaging buildings, essential infrastructure, and academic facilities. Several student residential halls have been affected, leaving many students facing serious hardship due to displacement, loss of belongings, and limited access to basic necessities.

 

As alumni of this great institution, we recognize that Pera has shaped who we are. Today, our university needs us more than ever.

 

UPAA-USA, in close coordination with the Vice Chancellor and the Alumni Association of the University of Peradeniya (AAUP) in Sri Lanka, is launching an Emergency Relief Fund to provide immediate and targeted support. All funds collected will be directed toward critical needs, including:

• Emergency assistance for affected students

• Restoration and repairs to damaged facilities

• Support for the university’s ongoing recovery and relief efforts
